Beaches Near Thessaloniki Airport: For Your First or Last Day

Thessaloniki's Makedonia airport has something very few European airports have: it sits right by the sea. That means you can land and be in the water within half an hour, or have one last swim before you fly.

The beaches, closest first

Perea, a few minutes

The closest organised beach, practically next to the airport. Shallow water, beach bars, showers, and two stretches with Blue Flags in 2024. You'll also watch planes coming in to land, which is half the fun for kids.

Neoi Epivates and Agia Triada, about 10 to 15 minutes

A bit quieter than Perea, with promenades and cafés. Ideal for a swim and lunch before an afternoon flight.

Nea Michaniona, about 15 minutes

Tourbali beach is 12 to 15 km from the airport. Wide sand, shallow water, and the harbour with its fish tavernas for one last fish before heading home.

Angelochori, about 20 minutes

If your flight is in the evening and you have a whole afternoon, go for sunset at the lighthouse. You'll leave Greece with the best possible picture.

“We land at 3 pm”

Perfect timing. Pick up your car or grab a taxi, drop your bags at the house, and by 4:30 you're in the sea. Fish at the harbour for dinner. Your first day isn't wasted.

“Our flight is at 9 pm”

Check-out is by 11:00, so you have the whole day. Take your time over breakfast, swim at Tourbali, eat at the harbour and drive to the airport at your leisure. If you need to leave your luggage somewhere or arrange something around your departure, ask us in advance and we'll see what we can do.

“We arrive at 1 am”

Standard check-in runs until 23:00. If your flight lands late, let us know when you book so we can sort it out. The house is only 20 to 25 minutes from the airport, so you'll wake up by the sea without losing a single hour.
